Town has a unique history and importance[edit]

This town has a unique history and importance in agriculture and livestock, particularly for New Jersey. A railroad connection was built and in use to specifically transport beef cattle to New York City for butchering, and the line was closed at some point in the 1950s, I believe, because the cattle transportation on trains was replaced by newer methods. But this village had been an important town for that purpose, based on the signposts that adorn the village. This needs to be researched more and added to this article, to encompass the town's history. I believe there are also the vestiges of an old tavern that was part of the town's culture.
