Genre debate

Wintersun are not melodic death metal, don't edit "melodic black metal" to "melodic death metal", because they're not. Unless, of course, Time turns out to be a melodeath album when it's released. But for now, leave it as melodic black metal please. TheguX 22:19, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Haha I'm not really one to genrewank, but Wintersun definitely aren't black metal in the least. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.100.107.38 (talk) 02:54, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

jari is going to record at HOME! not sonic pump studios. and its never melodic death. more like folk death or epic symphonic death :)--85.127.19.224 (talk) 16:41, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Is "epic" really even a genre? If so, it's a pretty superfluous one. I'd say symphonic death is not too far off though. 216.209.118.99 (talk) 04:41, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

By disputing the exact sub-genre doesn't make the article more or less accurate. Sub-genres are mostly subjective to the listener. 76.6.57.119 (talk) 04:25, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

true but they are not Progressive Metal!!!! Please —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.208.74.191 (talk) 15:26, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Release date may be 2009

This seems to be the new eta on the official forums, and is supposed to be confirmed by a radio interview with Jari.JackorKnave (talk) 14:01, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

It needs a source. Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 21:07, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

I agree. I thought I saw it on wikipedia before, but it may have been taken down because, like you say, it is unsourced and aslo, that it may have been simple vandalism. Hopefully, it's the second. I don't want to wait another year for Time. That would about 5 years after Wintersun, which is too long.JackorKnave (talk) 17:08, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Hell yeah, dude. I want it come out now! Blizzard Beast $ODIN$ 19:21, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Apologies

Sorry for removing track titles. JackorKnave (talk) 22:48, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

No problems. Just look at the obvious source it could be first from now on. :) −₪ÇɨгcaғucɨҲ₪ kaiden 01:56, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Tracks

I can't find a single source that says that says that there will be 8 tracks, the official website that is cited gives the number as 7, and so i think that we can assume that "Sons of Winter and Stars" is the intro track. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.0.156.231 (talk) 21:40, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Revenge of the Radio Rumour

I see this has surfaced again, this time Kai's website as a source. I checked the link, skimmed through it, word-searched for "2Jari", "Wintersun" and "2009", and found nothing supporting this. I'm not saying it's not there, but I crtainly can't find it, despite my best efforts. JackorKnave (talk) 03:06, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

I still can't see anything supporting this rumor so I'm replacing it (at least for the time being), with something that Kai actually said, recently on the official Wintersun website - that for the moment, they are not announcing a release date, so as not to dissapoint fans if it is not met. If someone finds something more verifiable than actual updates by band members, be my guest to revert it. JackorKnave (talk) 21:31, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

A little better, but I think I messed up a bit on the reference. Sorry. JackorKnave (talk) 21:40, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Time

I have deleted the Time cover, because due to Jari's post at his forum, and because this isn't the final version and he doesn't want that this cover is spread around, so please keep it off Wikipedia! If you don't believe me visit the Wintersun forum at http://www.wintermadness.net/messageboard/index.php (http://www.wintermadness.net/messageboard/viewtopic.php?t=528&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=30) And btw why already mentioning an album which isn't released yet? 91.89.233.223 (talk) 11:11, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

  • Sorry but this won't be the cover as it is said by Jari Mäenpää in Wintersun forum. Second what about copyrights? In WP you are only allowed to post images, which are under free licence, or if you are the owner of the copyrights or if you are allowed to post it. So do you have the permission to post it here? As far as i know the owner and creater is Anthony Clarkson (who had the picture of the cover on his MySpace site, but removed it already. Ok, i found no evidence that an article about a future album is against WP rules, so it's ok i guess :-) But please check the copyrights! 91.89.233.223 (talk) 22:53, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

EDIT: Now it has been removed, but it wasn't me. 91.89.233.223 (talk) 01:03, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Japanese influences

" Right now I´m exploring some Japanese style melodies, so beautiful and magical. You can probably hear some in the next album." – Jari, from this interview... if someone wants to work it in. I'm busy with the main Wintersun article. I'll get to this later, or someone else can weave it in. – Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 08:27, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

checkY Done. I added it there due to your request for that. Backtable Speak to meconcerning my deeds. 00:28, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

Japanese influences confirmed for the first track, the intro. Here is the {{cite}} information:

  • {{cite web |url=http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?Mode=Archive&Date=4/17/2007&PageNum=3 |title=WINTERSUN: New Album Delayed |date=April 17, 2007 |publisher=Roadrunner Records |accessdate=2010-01-30}}

Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 15:14, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Done with that, too. I decided that I wanted to make a "music" section out of the Japanese influence information. Is that a decision that you'd agree with? Backtable Speak to meconcerning my deeds. 22:52, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
