Vernacular, and U.S. chart claim

The phrase "pole position" (not "poll position") means #1. I changed the sentence but if she did indeed remain at #1 for "well over a year," please change it back (with the appropriate spelling). I also changed the wording of the sentence about Mick Jones' production bringing her success on the U.S. charts, because this is not borne out by the chart figures shown here for that album. French language

Sorry, I'd just like to make it clear that Tina does not in fact speak French fluently. She's at best competent, but far from fluent. In this interview, it says Don't Ask sold 2 million, a bit more than the 1.3 in the bio. I know it's copied off her website tho. Un autre univers

Could someone say where they got the 3xPlatinum figures for Un autre univers? The SNEP website only lists it at Platinum. But they only list certifications at the end of the year, so the only way it would be possible is if it was just certified this year. But as of 2007, the SNEP website states its highest sales at Platinum. I agree! Tina has an awesome vocal range! Try listening to most of her "In Deep" songs and you'll know.

I wonder how many octaves can her voice reach. That would be cool to know.

My educated guess about her range is at least 3 octaves. I'd class her as a spinto soprano or a dramatic soprano. 68.62.95.95 04:00, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

I wouldn`t classify her as spinto - sound would be more like C. aguilera or Monica Naranjo than - both totally spinto sopranos - "metal - timbre". One of 5 Non-French Artists to Sell a Million Copies in France False

I've seen this quoted for years and always wondered the validity of this claim. Tina has had strong sales in France. She has come close to a million selling record with "Aller plus haut" and "In Deep." However, she's one of MANY artists to claim this feat.

Other artists include ABBA (Gold), Ace of Base (Happy Nation), Mariah Carey (Music Box), Tracy Chapman's debut, Phil Collins (But Seriously, Serious Hits...Live), Cranberries (No Need to Argue), Celine Dion (Falling Into You, Let's Talk About Love), Dire Straits (Brothers in Arms, Money For Nothing, On Every Street), Dido (No Angel), Eagles (Hotel California), Fugees (the Score), Michael Jackson (Bad, Dangerous, HIStory, Thriller), Norah Jones (Come Away With Me), Madonna (the Immaculate Collection, True Blue), Moby (Play), Nirvana (Never Mind), Pink Floyd (The Wall, Wish You Were Here), Queen (Greatest Hits Vol 2), Simon & Garfunkle (Greatest Hits, The Concert in Central Park, The Definitive), Spice Girls (Spice).

This info is easily verifiable. So you see, she is not one of just 5 artists to sell a million copies in France. She's one of many respectable artists to achieve this.

Missing Television appearances

Tina appeared on the 1999 ALMA Awards (An American awards show) to accept an award with Marc Anthony for their duet "I Want to Spend My Lifetime Loving You". Tina Arena's quoted wealth - is it accurate?

On 26 December 2013, an editor quoted The Richest website (http://www.therichest.com) as a source for a statement in the lead section, that "Tina Arena has an estimated net worth of $245 million". A recent Australian Rich List of entertainers, including singers (BRW Rich 50) doesn't list her at all, although that may be because she lives in France these days. She does not appear on the BRW Australian Rich 200 (BRW Rich 200). Both those lists are very well regarded and regularly quoted by all mainstream Australian media outlets.I cannot be definitive, but I do not recall seeing her name on other Australian rich lists either (I am Australian) and an amount of $245 million would qualify her to top such lists.

I believe she has sold around eight million records (The Artist’s Story:Tina Arena) and is a busy live performer but the amount (subjectively) seems very high, therefore I am wondering if The Richest website is reliable (I'm not saying it isn't, but I have not heard of it before). Update: In view of information received at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard under the section 'Source quoted for singer-songwriter Tina Arena's wealth - is it reliable?' (today's date) I am sure that the quoted reference put there in good faith by another editor, is not reliable and therefore have removed it. Melbourne3163 (talk) 23:38, 29 December 2013 (UTC)

Language and Culture

This is going to be vague but make no apologies. I was a young lad at the time and her songs from the Don't Ask album were landmark in many ways and certainly resonated with most of us at the time - especially Sorento Moon.

So the style of this bio is to a large extent abstract and appears to have been written by someone that really did not experience Tina as she made her breakthroughs in Australia. I can't put my finger on it but it appears to be a strange mixture of Americanisms and marketing speak. I am not suggesting for one moment that you have to have a relationship with Tina and her music to write a good bio, but your writing should and least express a clear train of thought with regard to her career and influence - this bio is not only esoteric it is impersonal and all over the place. The section on her career is missing parts and does not flow.
