Tobor the Great vs. Captain Video
[edit]Are the two Tobors actually related, or do they just share a name? The article is unclear. Although the movie came out the same year the TV series ended, it's not at all clear that the Tobors are the same character. Pburka (talk)
- Answering my own question, according to Daniel Ichbiah:
The robot that was to become the indefatigable, invincible Tobor the Great first appeared in a TV series, Captain Video and his Video Rangers, that ran from 1949 to 1955.
- A number of blogs seem to support this, but of course they aren't usually reliable. Pburka (talk) 23:43, 19 July 2014 (UTC)
- No, the robots are not related in any way. This article should be split and rewritten because it is all gobbledy-gook. The Tobor of Captain Video looked nothing like the later Tobor. The Tobor of Tobor the Great was an original creation for the movie, designed by art director Gabriel Scognamilli and built by Robert Kinoshita, none of who worked on Captain Video. Scifist (talk)
Echoing the statement before, the two Tobors have NO RELATION to one another. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iohannkn (talk • contribs) 05:09, 24 November 2016 (UTC)
