How Did the Austrians Manage at First?[edit]

Trapp Family Austrian Relief was founded in January 1947. The war in Europe ended in May 1945. Do we have any information on why the Trapp Family failed to act in that interim? How did the Austrians get along during that period, and did the efforts of the Trapp Family make any significant difference, or what it merely a publicity gimmick?
