The article needs some external links and some misc. clean-up. Can anyone help? (Hurricaneguy (talk) 22:13, 19 September 2008 (UTC))[reply]

  • Do you think that you can make the storm history and impact a bit bigger.

  • I will fix the template soon

More impact is needed. ♬♩ Hurricanehink (talk) 18:22, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article still needs a cleanup (that last paragraph should probably be removed - the one on Ike's effects), and the met. history could probably be longer. I recommend the GAN is removed. ♬♩ Hurricanehink (talk) 14:09, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merge

[edit]

I not a big fan of merging but i think we should do it.Leave Message orYellow Evan home 16:02, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reasons? Miss Madeline | Talk to Madeline 19:26, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No one is letting me add anything.Leave Message orYellow Evan home 00:00, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Keep the article through at least thursday. I have a five day weekend this weekend. I'll see what I can do to get this article up and running. :) Cyclonebiskit (talk) 03:06, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Merge. Little content and little notability. —Alastor Moody 08:33, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, but if Cyclonebiskit plans on working on it, it's worth keeping for a few more days. –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 13:37, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No merge, its impacts were significant inland. (Hurricaneguy (talk) 19:55, 8 October 2008 (UTC))[reply]
Things might be a bit slow because I'm going to be busy this afternoon through tomorrow afternoon. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 13:01, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It would be crazy to merge this article, look at Tropical Storm Marco, it has little almost no information yet the merge was revocated. In turn, I have discontinued the merge on this article. (Hurricaneguy (talk) 20:07, 9 October 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Marco was shorter lived than Lowell. It even has longer storm history. Strong merge.Leave Message orYellow Evan home 03:39, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yellow Evan, do not merge an article unless it is a definite merge. As I said before, I would work on it, but I'm a bit behind schedule. Be patient and wait for others to determine whether or not to merge it. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 17:28, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No Merge - This should be rather easy to expand. Jason Rees (talk) 17:35, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm working on it now, just getting the pre-depression information before I start. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 17:40, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review

[edit]
This review is transcluded from Talk:Tropical Storm Lowell (2008)/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.

Hi! I will be reviewing this article for GA status. At the moment, I am waiting for a reply back from Cyclonebiskit - I asked this editor if they were willing to continue the GA review, as on the talk page they appear to be the one most interested in improving the article and have recently asked for a little more time to gather additional information. There appears to be some disagreement on what to do with the article, with the GAN nominator arguing for a merge as little as 5 days ago. So, for the moment, consider this article on hold until I see if things can stabilize and if there is an editor willing to do the work.

However, here are a few comments to get other editors started, if they wish:

  • Most of the second paragraph of the history section needs a reference.
  • The external link in the impact section should be turned into a ref, or removed if it doesn't back up the information.
  • In the impact section, was it really both Lowell and Ike that did the damage? In most of the other hurricane articles I've read, once a smaller storm (like TS Lowell) is absorbed by a larger storm (like H Ike), it is referred to by the larger storm's name and the damage is not attributed to the smaller storm. I may be wrong...just asking...
  • Ref 13 is giving an error message - you need to have the whole ref in here, rather than just the named part.

Drop me a note here if you have any questions...I'll post an update as soon as I hear from Cyclonebiskit. Dana boomer (talk) 14:41, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

After a conversation with Cyclonebiskit (see my talk page and his), and after reviewing the reversions to the article and the discussions on the talk page, I am going to fail this article. It is very unstable right at the moment, and it could benefit from some serious work. When this article is more stable and in a bit better shape, please renominate it at GAN. Todo

[edit]
  • Lead
    • Expand to two paragraphs
  • Meteorological history
    • Expand to include the pre-tropical storm information (see the season talk page archive for September to find the TWO's)
    • Expand to more accurately describe the storms development, reason for the strengthening, reason for the weakening, why did it take the path it took, how did it the remnants play a role in the flooding.
    • If the remnants did play a big role, citations are needed, if not, remove that statement altogether
  • Impact
    • Expand, the damage in Mexico should be the main part of this section. If you can't find a lot of info in English, check Spanish sources
    • Verify that the damage in Illinois is actually caused by Lowell.

This article has improved somewhat but there are still problems, mainly with lack of info. The article needs to be expanded in all of the three sections. Please met these points before going any further with the article. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 14:03, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I will add more impact soon. Leave Message orYellow Evan home or User:Yellow Evan/Sandbox 14:16, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've undone your recent edit because it was a direct copy from the Hurricane Ike article. Adding "Along with Ike" doesn't change anything. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 14:28, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Same goes for almost all of the impact section. The part about damage in Mexico is fine. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 14:41, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
