Ping Chau and Tung Ping Chau are poles apart! The former one is just north of Discovery Bay. -- Jerry Crimson Mann 05:15, 11 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

hee~ just find a clue in the Chinese wikipedia. :-D -- Jerry Crimson Mann 05:17, 11 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Most people in Hong Kong call it "Tung Ping Chau" now. In English, "Peng Chau" adpated a different spelling (and hence pronunciation), but in Chinese, most of the time people refer it as "Tung Ping Chau"; "Ping Chau" is seldom used. --Hello World! 03:00, 27 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding History section: Ping Chau is now deserted and has a checkered history. Guns and opium were once smuggled from here, and during the Cultural Revolution many mainlanders swam through shark-infested waters in hopes of reaching Ping Chau and the freedom of Hong Kong.

Reference? There are no waters around HK that are "shark-infested". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kevinarpe (talkcontribs) 08:59, 3 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dung Chow Ping??

[edit]

A search for "Dung Chow Ping" leads to this article.

Last I looked, this referred to a person, not to an island. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.89.176.249 (talk) 20:10, 30 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
