Merging into Characters[edit]

Why does this character when characters who appear in the majority of the episodes, such as appa, don't?--Jakezing (talk) 13:40, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ummm I think you're missing a few nouns and verbs. Can't really tell what you're saying.Rau's Speak Page 18:29, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think Jakezing is wondering why characters like Ty Lee, Mai, and Suki have their own pages. Shoot, the three of them have not been on many episodes at all and really don't contribute much to understanding Avatar. I think Momo contributes more, and even he doesn't have a page, and he's appeared in almost every episode. MisterZeppo (talk) 17:20, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Momo doesn't contribute anything at all. But they don't deserve pages. Rau's Speak Page 17:46, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

These characters have caused major events in the Avatar Universe. Mai and Ty Lee caused Azula to go crazy and Suki majorly helped in the Boiling Rock escape and saved Toph and sokka in the finale. Also, Mai is zuko's girlfriend and Suki is sokka's. Mai and Ty Lee helped in conquering Ba Sing Se, and a lot of other stuff. I don't think the ammount of episodes they are in really matters. What matters is the impact they made. Without these characters, the whole sotryline wouuld be completely different. would the storyline be different without Momo? No. Mew Mitsuki (talk) 20:01, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This isn't about number of episodes or about importance. It is about real-world notability. All of them pretty much lack it. Rau's Speak Page 20:46, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Rau. Even though these characters did contribute, they all lack the notability in the series. There are plenty of secondary characters that had an effect on the war. Without Sokka and Katara's father, Hakoda, the Gaang probably wouldn't have escaped Ba Sing Se in the same manner. Without Ursa, Zuko would be dead. But these characters don't have their own pages, do they? I nominate that the Suki, Mai, and Ty Lee pages be removed or merged into a "List of secondary characters" page. Because that's what they are. They aren't as pivotal as Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, Zuko, Azula, Appa, or Iroh. MisterZeppo (talk) 21:35, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Totally disagree with Rau. Two people who helped bring down a city thought to be impenetrable, a person who single-handedly defeated a bunch of earth soldiers. A person who basically whipped a master waterbender is not notable? A person who basically saved Toph's life lacks notability? I agree with Mew.
They lack real-world notability. Yea they are notable within the context of the show, but not in the real world. Rau's Speak Page

If Ty Lee has her own page, shouldn't Ozai? (RedwallFreak305, August 8 2008 4:05 pm Central Time) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.198.124.194 (talk) 21:06, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No. Ty Lee shouldn't have her own page either. In fact, per wp:bold, I'm redirecting this, Mai, and Suki to the list of characters. Rau's Speak Page 21:14, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Disagree. Ozai only appeared in a few episodes and within the episodes did not do a heck of a lot (other than burn Zuko) until the movie. Ty Lee (and Mai) appeared in several episodes. Yes, they're not major characters, but I feel they been seen enough to get their own pages.

Good thing that these were deleted. But MisterZeppo, you're missing Rau's point. It needs real-world notability, not just series-notability. --haha169 (talk) 04:58, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

...?[edit]

Does anyone have a link to the statement that she even impressed Aang with her jumping? I personally don't remember her even jumping in his presence (wait, now that I think about it, in The Drill she does, but he doesn't say anything about it), and even if she did, I don't recall him saying anything aabout it showing that he was impressed or a facial expression that showed he was impressed. Mew Mitsuki (talk) 13:44, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't recall that either. The statment also goes on to say "and led to some speculation about her heritage" when there's no such thing within the show. Within the fandom, yes, but that context isn't there. 72.136.35.120 (talk) 04:00, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Exactly. I mean, I personally believe she may be part airbender, but that is completely fan-made and has not even really been mentioned in the show. Mew Mitsuki (talk) 14:46, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
