I thought the Ugly Stick was something ugly people were beating with? JayKeaton 12:01, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Getting hit with an ugly stick

[edit]

some mention should be made to "getting hit by an/the ugly stick" which is a slang term for being ugly.

As urbandictionary.com writes, an ugly stick is "A stick that has the magical property of turning anyone touched with it, ugly. A beating from the ugly stick will have a much more severe effect than just a casual touch."

Idiomatic Usage

[edit]

The instrument may be called an ugly stick, but it's not the basis of the idiom. The idiomatic usage is simply coincidental. The idiom is the same as "He fell out of the ugly tree, hitting every branch on the way down." It has nothing to do with the musical instrument.--WPaulB (talk) 17:46, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have deleted the last two external links, since they respectively, in order of appearance, do not work and provide no relevant information.
