a replacement resource?[edit]

Good afternoon.I would like to contribute what I consider a valuable resource to your Wikipedia page on Underground Service Alert. I noticed that the external link to call centers in all 50 states no longer works and this would replace that. The text below will link to a 50-state guide to Underground Alert, One Call, Dig Safe and Miss Utility centers and laws. This is a free resource on a website that’s regularly and professionally maintained and updated. ConstructionWebLinks does not charge for access to this information or profit from use of the site. We’ve worked hard to develop some rich resources and simply want to share them. We’ve found that if we try to link to these resources ourselves, our links are removed as potential spam. If you agree that this resource would be useful to users of this page, would you consider adding it? Dawsedit (talk) 19:35, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Is the term "USA" used outside of California/Nevada?[edit]

At present this article starting out implying that the term "USA" is a national practice but then only explains the details for California and Nevada. Is the term "USA" used in other states? I live in California and see "USA" marked all the time much like as in this picture: File:Underground_service_alert_marking_example.jpg. In that case the contractor doing the work is "MK" and they want to dig starting at that point and going in the indicated direction for 1000 feet. There will be similar white marks with just a line, not a T every 50 feet and at the end another T mark. Sometimes they mark a white box on the ground or pavement that marks out the area where they will dig. Each of the locator folks will add their marks in their own color in or next to the USA marks or box.

This web site[1] is for Minnesota and the marks used by the locators are identical to what they use in California, including the colors. Unfortunately, they did not describe nor show the white marks used by the person that wants to dig and if they would write "USA" as part of the marking.

The 8-1-1 article used a more generic "call before you dig" term. --Marc Kupper|talk 05:24, 8 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
