Currency symbol[edit]

The currency symbol is tagged as "citation needed," but there appears to be no official statement on the English version of the UAE's central bank website (or anywhere else for that matter). Can an Arabic reader confirm this on the main website?

The symbol used in the article appears informally in places such as http://fasteri.com/list/17/currency-symbols and in the help forums for Salesforce.com. Neither of them cites any particular source for the symbol, it is just treated as common knowledge.

Can the citation requirement be removed if no official source exists? Frank MacCrory (talk) 16:43, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
