The article is largely correct, but in one aspect is misleading. It says, " but some of more evangelical conservative orientation departed in the 1970s to denominations such as the Presbyterian Church in America (founded 1973) and the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (1981)." In fact, the departure of some UPCUSA and PCUSA congregations to the PCA and the EPC is entirely unrelated to the history of the UPCNA. By far the vast majority of former UPCNA congregations remain within the PCUSA; and most of the congregations that have departed this parent denomination were never part of the UPCNA.
