Inclusion of Programs on Page
[edit]Hello Corkythehornetfan,
The WP:UNIGUIDE states that it is not a policy; it is a guide. Thus strict adherence to the guide is not required. The University Guide states under the Academic section that it recommends (again, not requires)to: "Try to include information about the institution's accreditation, tuition and financial aid, number of degrees/programs offered, number of degrees awarded annually,". The deleted content included a summary discussion of the number of programs offered, in addition to NOT listing each and every one of the programs offered per the quote you listed.
Therefor, I have reverted your revision. It looks to me that you have been deleting numerous analogous entries without giving consideration to the context and whether the text improves the article. Again, WP:UNIGUIDE is not a policy. Blanksamurai (talk) 20:50, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is NOT a directory, either (which is a policy). Listing out the degrees IS a directory. You can keep the number of degrees it offers or the programs that is notable for (with WP:THIRDPARTY sources), or don't include them... especially if they are WP:UNSOURCED like in this case. Your edit summary states "..good idea to include number of programs". Please note the NUMBER of programs, not listing out the programs. 🎄 Corkythehornetfan 🎄 20:59, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
- I respectfully disagree. You have deleted content which enhances this article because it is a specific subject (e.g.) the College of Education should have a discussion about the programs it offers. We can discuss a consensus; but you are employing a black and white interpretation of WP:NOTDIRECTORY. WP:ISNOT a black and white interpretation. The particular text you deleted DOES NOT include ALL of the "individual programs". To the contrary it has a mixture of both degrees mentioned and a discussion of the number of programs in specific units/divisions of the college. In any case, this text isn't acting as a directory as defined in #1-7 of the WP:NOTDIRECTORY. Please do not revert the article again until you have better consensus on this issue. Request Edit
[edit]I want to add an overall ranking of the College of Education at UIUC in the beginning summary of the wikipage.
As of 2016, the College of Education at UIUC is ranked #23 by the U.S News & World Reports. The college is tied with Boston University. [1]
I also want to make a request to edit and update the rankings listed to the "Departments" section on the UIUC College of Education wikipage.
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction is no longer ranked #5 on the U.S. News & World Reports. It is now ranked #10 on the U.S. News & World Reports. [2]
The Department of Educational Psychology is ranked #7 on the U.S. News & World Reports. [3]
The Department of Special Education is ranked #10 on the U.S. News & World Reports. [4]
