Torchbearers
[edit]Actually, the correct nickname for VAW 115 is (or at least was) "The Torchbearers", as in those who shine the light so others can see. Obviously, this is a reference to the radar/AEW capability. Now you can understand why the squadron logo has a torch. I have no idea when the name "Liberty Bells" officially replaced Torchbearers, and maybe it never did. There was some knowledge of Torchbearers being the correct nickname in the 1980s when I was in the squadron. It's funny that nobody has tried to fix the phase inverter on the logo's lightning bolt in the right upper and left lower corner for 30 years or more. Never heard of "National Treasure" or It's just another clue!" in the 1980s, either. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.144.160.37 (talk) 14:43, 25 October 2019 (UTC)
