Vidathaltheevu is situated in Mannar District of northern province in Srilanka. It is administrated by the Manthai West District Secretariate headed by District sectretary appointed by the central government of Srilanka.
History Before four hundred years(400) some people came from some parts of Jaffna (Yarl,Navali,Allaippitty,etc) to Vidathaltheevu for the purpose of paddy fielding and fishing.Theevu means island. The name Vidathaltheevu was arised because of there were more vidathal trees in this area and the area was covered by the sea in the west, river in north,east,south directions. [1]
