I have removed the QY700 from the list. It's a desktop sequencer, not a walkstation
I removed references to the Yamaha MU range and the HandySound, which are simply tone modules or small electronic keyboards. --Malcohol (talk) 12:46, 10 November 2019 (UTC)
Now that I've discovered that the name "walkstation" was part of the QY10's official marketing (see UK ad), I'm considering whether the content of this page should be moved to a more generic page such as Portable Music Workstation or Handheld Music Workstation. The device category is more deserving of a page than the term itself. There could be a subsection of that page on the term, and Walkstation would redirect there. --Malcohol (talk) 13:43, 18 November 2019 (UTC)
- I can find some support for the claim that these devices constitute a genuine device category from the SOS PMA-5 review: "[The] products filled a niche that no-one knew existed, and in Yamaha's case, the company created a new category of musical instrument -- the mobile musical notepad."--Malcohol (talk) 13:55, 20 November 2019 (UTC)
- Another thing to consider is how to contrast these devices with grooveboxes.
