"Residents of Kunduz rely on water from the Amu Darya for irrigation purposes."
This is incorrect. Irrigation water in Kunduz province take water from Kunduz and Taloqan Rivers. The Kunduz River is a tributary of the Amu-Daya. The Taloqan River flows down from Takar (NE of Kunduz), north of Kunduz town to join the Kunduz River to the west of Kunduz.
I have amended the text to read: "Residents of Kunduz rely on water from the [[Kunduz] and [Khanabad] Rivers] for irrigation purposes."
