Gobbledegook[edit]

Much of this article is utter gobbledegook:

  • they were a "husband-and-wife" team AND "they were married" ? - no s***, Sherlock
  • I can make no sense at all of the Origins section, despite having two degrees from Cambridge Univ. and therefore presumably not being stupid.
  • "Unlike the parties of the day, Whitaker and Baxter could and insisted on emphasizing ..." Pardon?
  • "They avoided mass mailing operations ..." Did everyone else use that method? Or is "avoid" an anachronism, looking at things from a 21st century POV?
  • no inline citations & the references listed seem not to be online (at least, not in the UK). Of course, I WP:AGF but if I can't make sense of the writing and can't find the source then I can't fix the writing.

I won't go on. I've been doing a lot of cleaning up of articles recently but I wouldn't know where to start on this one. Please, please can someone have a go as it seems likely to be an interesting subject. Sitush (talk) 19:12, 25 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
