Council estates[edit]

No mention of the council estates - from the 1950s North Woodingdean and South Woodingdean estates gave it a very different atmosphere to places like Ovingdean. Maybe the houses are almost all private now but it was not the case in the 1960s and 70s.

I have edited this page to remove some historical inaccuracies (e.g. that it was named after the former farm at the Southern end of the village. No it wasn't! The former farms were Balsdean and Norton Farm - which both have roads named after them in the village. The village was named after the Anglo Saxon meaning wooded village).

There are still many Council Houses in Woodingdean - particularly in Bexhill Road.

Haile Selassie[edit]

I could find no evidence that Haile Selassie resided in Woodingdean, although he did visit Brighton several times whilst in exile from 1936-1941. It would appear the Woodingdean residency may be false. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.97.170.95 (talk) 22:34, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal[edit]

I propose that Woodingdean Water Well be merged into Woodingdean. I think that the content in the article for the well is minimal and can easily be explained in the context of the district, and the Woodingdean article is of a reasonable size. ~dom Kaos~ (talk) 22:42, 20 November 2017 (UTC) :@~dom Kaos~ (talk) I agree; I have already tried to redirect the page, with disastrous results, as I am new to wikipedia. I'll leave it a couple of weeks to see if anyone else wishes to comment or oppose the merge, and if there's no objection I'll set about doing it ~dom Kaos~ (talk) 17:36, 21 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

How about the world famous well??[edit]
