Is there anyone who can follow this article for me for additional information on the amateur radio machine Yaesu VX-6R? Thanks! BurnDuck 21:18, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Should probably be moved to Yaesu VX-6R for consistency with other items in Category:Amateur_radio_transceivers (done) Ninly 18:13, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Consumer Questions

[edit]

The article as it appears might be useful for someone with a degree in electrical engineering with a concentration in communications but it leaves the rest of us with questions.

So, is this just essentially a walkie talkie, that is smaller, and reasonable waterproof?

Many years ago, prior to cell phones being common place, walkie talkies were advertised with having so many transitors, some had 3 others 7 ect, the more the better.

So a consumer needs to know the following:

Is this a walkie talkie in that no sales contract is needed like with a cell phone?

If such is the case, it being a stand alone communications device, what is the range?, What does range values even mean? Since a person accross from a lake can get really good range but in the city, very short range.

Is some kind of retransmission possible, like with satelites or towers?

User Questions

[edit]

I just got one of these handheld transceivers and I'm struggling with how to use it: how to program it, how to set the features, etc. Could someone post some nice how-to guides? If I figure it out I'll add some myself. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Xsive.guy (talkcontribs) 04:31, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
