Accent in surname: confirmation required

[edit]

The index of the Encyclopaedia of the Holocaust gives her surname as Nèvejean. I've been unable to corroborate this, i.e. I failed to find a comparable article in the French Wikipedia. Would appreciate help with this. Thanks -- Deborahjay 08:47, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I am not an expert in using Wikipedia so excuse any errors in usage. I have just revisited this page that I started when I lived in Belgium. I think the confusion occurs because of the dual language use in Belgium. If you look at the link in reference 1 you can see that her name is spelled differently even within the one article with one spelling on the stamp and one in the article. I think maybe Yvonne Nevejan is a Flemish spelling. The information comes from her son so I presume that is how he spells it, but I think she lived in the French speaking area of Ixelles, although there would be Flemish language people as well in this area. Hence the confusion. Ivor Borkin (talk) 04:31, 26 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
