The Immaculate Conception Cathedral[1] (Spanish: Catedral de la Inmaculada Concepción) Also Tampico Cathedral[2] Is the main Catholic temple in the city of Tampico[3] in Mexico. It is located opposite the Plaza de Armas, in the historical center of the city.
The erection of the temple of the cathedral of Tampico was not carried out, until the year 1841, when the first stone was placed on May 9. The original project of the temple was realized by Lorenzo de la Hidalga, who was in charge of the work in the year of 1850.
In the year 1917, the building suffered the collapse of its central nave; And by the year 1922, the west tower was collapsed by a lightning that fell to it.
It was consecrated on November 12, 1931. It has three naves and plant of Latin cross.
