Template:Extrasolar planet counts/numbers/NEA/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This subtemplate template centralizes the counts of verified extrasolar planets, and systems. These are used in several articles, and sometimes more than once. Placing them here allows them all to be updated at once, and avoids the problem of only one count in an article getting updated.

The parameters passed from {{extrasolar planet counts}} are as follows, and were last updated on 8 August 2024:

  1. asof - the date as of which the data is valid
    There is a secondary unnamed param 2 on asof that specifies the date format, as used in {{date}}
  2. planet_count - the number of extrasolar planets
  3. system_count - the number of systems with extrasolar planets
  4. multiplanetsystem_count - the number of systems with more than one extrasolar planet
  5. ref - These numbers are sourced from NASA Exoplanet Archive. The reference does not need to be updated unless the URL itself changes.

Note: do not add the "transiting planet" subcategory numbers - these numbers are already included in the "Candidates detected by radial velocity or astrometry" category.
