This template is substituted very frequently, so changes to it will be widely noticed. Please test any changes in the template's /sandbox or /testcases subpages, or in your own user subpage. Please consider discussing changes on the talk page before implementing them.

This is the old version of the standard welcome template, as it existed before a new version was adopted in April 2020 following a discussion at the village pump.

Usage[edit]

Add {{subst:Welcome-retro}} ~~~~ to the user's talk page.

Parameters:

|1=Sender – The username of the person sending the message. Used for a link to your talk page.
|art=Article title – Article to which the user contributed positively: {{subst:Welcome-retro|art=Radar detector}}
|heading=no – Suppress the automatic heading: {{subst:Welcome-retro|heading=no}}
|headtext=Greetings! – Change the contents of the heading: {{subst:Welcome-retro|headtext=Greetings!}}
|newuser=y – drops "Thanks for your contributions" from first paragraph. (alias: |nothanks=y)

Briefer[edit]

Use {{subst:Welcome}} for a briefer message with big buttons instead of policy links.

For anonymous editors[edit]

For anonymous (IP) editors, use Use {{subst:Welcome-anon}} for the standard message, or Use {{subst:Welcome-anon-retro}} for a retro style like this one.
