How to transfer this template to the french wikipedia?[edit]

Change wording of -ns reply[edit]

I don't use it often, but every time I use {{help me-ns}} I am annoyed by the response. In particular, the statement to please add your question to that editor's talk page instead. 99% of the time the {{help me}} that prompts an -ns closure is being made on a user's talk page when they receive a message from another user, and going to that user's talk page to leave a different note is a trend that is falling rapidly out of favour - most people prefer to keep threads continuous on one page.

I know the pitfalls of trying to get too technical/jargon-y with new editors, but could we potentially change that quoted line to something more along the lines of "Please ping the editor in question" or something? Primefac (talk) 12:34, 26 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I think if they're a new editor and we wanted to change that line in that manner then we should provide some instruction as to how to ping an editor. DonIago (talk) 13:29, 26 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Unexpected behavior of admin help at noticeboard[edit]

A user added the Admin help template to Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard in this edit. An admin added the answered=yes parameter a couple of hours later, but this did not clear the page from Category:Wikipedians looking for help from administrators, where it remains about a day later.

As far as I can tell, this template is designed to be used only on Talk pages, so maybe its use on a project-space page is causing the issue. If not, maybe someone can figure it out? We might also want to enable the template's use in project-space. It's been used a handful of times at noticeboards, the Teahouse, and AfCs. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 19:11, 18 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Has nothing to do with the template (or its usage), when |answered=yes it sends no categories. I suspect a cache issue. Primefac (talk) 19:29, 18 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You're right. It turned out someone added another admin help template and I just missed it. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 19:36, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hah! That would certainly do it. Were they using a redirect? I checked the text and didn't see any template calls... glad it got sorted though. Primefac (talk) 19:37, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
A direct transclusion! I remember searching too, and I don't know how I goofed. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 01:22, 20 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Amyhere. This talk page is intended to be used for discussing things related to the Template:Help me; it's not intended to be the place for posting individual requests for help, and there's a notice near the top of this page explaining this. It's OK if you missed the notice, just be more careful in the future. Now, if you'd still like to request help regarding the deletion of your user sandbox, please follow the instructions given on this template's page and add the template to your user talk page instead. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:03, 20 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
