This {{cite news|url-status=dead....}} should be {{cite news|....}}{{Dead link}}, since |url-status=dead
does nothing other than throw a warning message that it is being used wrong (since there is no archive url). AManWithNoPlan (talk) 15:46, 29 September 2023 (UTC) AManWithNoPlan (talk) 15:46, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
- @AManWithNoPlan: I've made the modifications in the sandbox, but can you give me an example of where this code is actually used? None of the testcases seem to use this part of the template for some reason. Elli (talk | contribs) 16:19, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
- Here are two examples from Brave_New_World_(Amanda_Cook_album). Honestly, I am not sure why the template thinks one is dead and the other is not, now that I realize that neither link works.

- @AManWithNoPlan: Alright. I've made this change as it's a clear improvement, but this template probably needs more work by someone who knows more regarding Billboard and how it is cited in practice. Elli (talk | contribs) 19:08, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
- I agree, but this is still a small improvement, and that is a good thing. AManWithNoPlan (talk) 19:14, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
- The
|url-status=dead
looks like it was inserted in the wrong place back in January 2020 in the first place. Everything else in that change was changing the default urls when no{{{3}}}
was passed. If you want a way to specify that the URLs being passed by invocations like in Brave New World (Amanda Cook album) are dead, you'll probably want to add an additional parameter or two. And when you do, please make sure you don't wind up with an undated {{dead link}} being transcluded (personally I'd recommend adding whatever parameters are needed so|url-status=dead
actually works). Anomie⚔ 14:21, 7 October 2023 (UTC)

In the tracking category section at the bottom of this page, Category:Articles using BillboardChartNum with invalid chart name is a redlink. This category was deleted last year. Thanks! MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 04:04, 8 April 2024 (UTC)
- @MrLinkinPark333: That section is not protected. It is in the documentation subpage at Template:Album chart/doc#Tracking category. Template /doc pages exist so that the documentation can be updated without editing the actual template page. You can use the 'edit' link at the top of the green "Template documentation" box to edit a /doc page. Nevertheless, Done. SilverLocust 💬 05:07, 8 April 2024 (UTC)

Album chart usage - Category
[edit]When adding an album chart template to a page, it automatically creates an album chart usage category for that country. However, when you have to manually add a chart like Billboard peaks from Wayback, if the previous link was dead, this removes the album chart usage from the category. So on saying this, is it ok to manually add album chart usages (for Billboard200, ect) through Hotcat? Majash2020 (talk) 04:56, 23 August 2024 (UTC)
