Wikitable

[edit]

Would anyone object if I changed the contents of this template into

{| class="wikitable"

Using templates is quite hard on the servers compared to using classes (see MediaWiki talk:Common.css). -Fred Bradstadt 00:57, 30 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Simplification

[edit]

If we use this template in a table with 1 logo column, 1 text column and 5 numerical columns, there are 5 cells per row that must be defined align="right" and only 1 remains default "left". To simplify the tables, it would be better if the overall table style was text-align:right, as only 1 cell must be defined align="left" per row. Before the template could be changed, however, the left-aligned cells must be prepared in all articles that use the template.

To enable a transition without disturbing lots of articles, I have made the template {{election-table2}} with text-align:right but without the leading row (that one has to be defined anyway, so there's no need to have it in the template). An example of changing the template and simplifying the table code is given here; in each row, 5 × align="right" are deleted, and 1 × align="left" is added. Instructions for using the template is given at Template talk:Election-table2. --Eddi (Talk) 01:57, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
