<nowiki> tags
While the <nowiki> tags at Template:totd don't show up, and are sometimes necessary, they show up in places like Wikipedia:Main Page, which use tables. Currently, the wiki software doesn't always parse things like <nowiki> tags correctly when they're in tables. What should be done? – Minh Nguyen 03:46, 25 Feb 2004 (UTC)
- Eloquence found a temporary fix using HTML entities: ˜ - created by "˜". However this doesn't look quite right (in my Mozilla browser), and also cannot be copied and used into an edit window. I replaced them with another dirty fix which is to separate the tildas with empty HTML comments: "<!-- -->". --Mihai 04:10, 25 Feb 2004 (UTC)
Tip of the day encouraging interwiki redirects?
I find it shocking that the tip of the day is encouraging creation of interwiki redirects. As if that wasn't bad enough, it doesn't encourage listing them at Wikipedia:List of interwiki redirects, so they can be kept track of. Interwiki redirects have a problem of not showing up on "what links here" pages, thus can be lost and are hard to locate when they need to be edited. Additionally, encouraging moving content to Wiktionary without following the m:transwiki system causes the record of the authors of an article to be lost, possibly violating the terms of the GFDL. Tip of the Week?
The tip is updated so infrequently that it should be called tip of the week. Maybe Tip of the Fortnight.
- I can create a queue for tips like I've already done for Selected anniversaries and for Wikipedia:Today's featured article. For now, I could create a tip of the week queue by using the {{CURRENTWEEK}} variable. When we get enough tips, I can create a 366 page queue. --mav 03:27, 7 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- That would be a good idea. Maybe you should have a place in your userspace for ideas. HereToHelp 00:54, 28 September 2005 (UTC)
