Template talk:US image sources
This template does not require a rating on Wikipedia's content assessment scale. It is of interest to the following WikiProjects: | ||||||||

Untitled
[edit]Additions to this list need to have a free license suitable for use in Wikimedia Commons, and their external link should ideally be to a search page or geographically browsable section. An unsearchable gallery of PD photographs wouldn't be suitable - the aim is to use this list to service particular image requests. TheGrappler 22:38, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
Ref tags
[edit]This template appears to use <ref>...</ref>
for internal notes. Since this template is used in categories, those categories are starting to appear in Category:Wikipedia pages with broken references. --—— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 22:56, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
You're right. In this case the reason was because of a commentary User:LeheckaG added inside the template by adding a reference. He should have used this talk page. Debresser (talk) 23:21, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
- Looking at this a bit more closely, it looks like those refs are about updating the template names. It also and that has been done, so they are no longer needed. That should have been deon with HTML comments or better yet, discussed on the talk page. --—— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 23:29, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
He was the one to do it. He added the refs by way of explanation. Debresser (talk) 00:04, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
I created the templates {{PD-USGov-HAER}}and {{PD-USGov-HALS}} as redirect pages to {{PD-USGov-Interior-HABS}}. That latter template's text mentioned only HABS and HAER so I added HALS to it as well, as explicitly mentioned in the sources on that template.
The whole purpose of all of this is of course to get aforementioned categories out of Category:Wikipedia pages with broken references. Debresser (talk) 00:11, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
Smithsonian resources as a source?
[edit]Is this the place to chase down the source of images for the Smithsonian? Is http://sirismm.si.edu/siris/sirisimagegallery.htm the right source? I'm not at all savvy about copyright rules. Thx. Trilotat (talk) 18:01, 24 July 2017 (UTC)
