The Montenotte is a luxury 4 star hotel in Cork (city), Ireland.

Refurbishment

The EUR20 million refurbishment and new build of this boutique 4 star hotel [1] was completed in 2006 with 108 bedrooms, 16 apartment suites, bar, restaurant and leisure centre which includes swimming pool, Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna.

The U2 connection

On the 4 February 1980, U2 performed in the hotel as part of their U2-3 Irish/London Tour. The set-list included the tracks Cartoon World, Boy-Girl, Out of Control, Trevor, Twilight, Another Day, The Dream is Over and Shadows & Tall Trees. [2] The photograph on the U2 album "U218" and on the cover of their book 'U2 By U2' was taken from the roof of the hotel. Internationally renowned music photographer David Corio [3] was present at the gig and the hotel sourced a couple of photographs taken on the night which are on display in the hotel lobby.
