The Scouts/Guides Organisation of India is a non-political, non-sectarian Scouting association and a lifetime member of the World Federation of Independent Scouts. It depends largely on public support.

The Scouts/Guides Organisation is registered under Society Registration Act 21, 1860 Vide-Registration no. 62/06-07. The organization has a pan-Indian presence and coordinates various activities with the support of local authority for strategic development of youths in more than 15 states.

The organization was registered on 18/01 2008 under 12A/80G of Income Tax Act 1961 and its registration number is 112/2007-2008. The organization also got international affiliation and membership from World Federation of Independent Scouts, Germany on 31 August 2008 and the member of the organization shall be able to participate the international jamborees and other scouts camps and also represent India at world level. The organisation also havs FCRA vide no 031170464 under Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

The organization has been conducting the scouting/guiding programme to develop the skills provide physical fitness as well as proper training of disaster management to students. The organization shall be prepared to organize the training programme, seminar and other activities time to time among the youths under the implementation of instructions issued by Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports Government of India.

Scoutmasters and Guide Captains are paid.[1]
