Transnet Rail Engineering, formerly known as Transwerk, is a subsidiary of Transnet whose business it is to keep South Africa's trains rolling. According to the Operational Report at Transnet, Transnet Rail Engineering's responsibility includes "the maintenance, upgrade and manufacture of locomotives, wagons, coaches, rolling stock components and associated transport equipment". The company operates seven factories in South Africa. Transnet Rail Engineering maintains sales offices in 7 European countries, 11 African countries and in Australia.
