Trivia

Montana skiing legend Dan Hanson was severely injured at Turner Mountain in a freak accident during the winter of 2002. Failing to heed local advice to "watch out for the jeep road", Dan forcefully impacted the flat trail at the bottom of Aspen Alley with his upper chest, leading to a collapsed lung and several broken ribs. The incident occurred during mid-afternoon when flat lighting impaired visibility of the adjoining trail. At more than 6'6" tall, Dan's abnormally lengthy frame provided significant leverage that contributed to the impact on the trail. Dan was subsequently treated and released from St. John's Lutheran Hospital in Libby.
