U. T. Khader is an Indian National Congress political activist from Karnataka and was a Minister in the Siddaramaiah cabinet.[1]

Khader was born and brought up in Mangalore from a renowned Muslim family. His parents Late Haji U. T. Fareed and Naseema are well known for their generosity. He is well known for his simplicity.

Khader has represented the Ullal constituency (now renamed as Mangalore constituency) of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. In his long career as a legislator in the Karnataka Assembly he has served his constituency in a variety of ways. He was the Minister for Health and Family Welfare of Karnataka from 20 May 2013 to 20 June 2016.[2]

In the 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election, Khader was the only Congress MLA to win the election from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.[3] He defeated Santosh Kumar Rai of BJP by a margin of 19,739 votes.[4] Since June 2018, he is the Minister for Urban Development and Housing of Karnataka.[5]
