Una Prentice (1913–1986) was one of the first female lawyers in Australia.

She was the first graduate of the University of Queensland Law school in Queensland[1] of either gender. She was also the first woman admitted to the bar in Queensland, the first Woman prosecutor for the Australian Commonwealth Crown Solicitor[2] and the first female librarian of the University of Queensland Law Library.[3]

Her enrolment at university was opposed by the Dean, and initially she encountered considerable opposition to her employment.[4] However, after the war in 1946 she joined the Brisbane firm of Stephens & Tozer and on the birth of her first child, Roger, resigned to raise a family but became the Australian President of the Business and Professional Women's Association.

She died in 1986 and a prize is today awarded in her memory.[5]
