The 1994 United States Senate election in Rhode Island was held on November 3, 1994. Incumbent Republican U.S. Senator John Chafee won re-election to a fourth term & It would be Chafee's final term. In March 15th 1999 he announced he would not seek a fifth term meaning that 2000 would be his last year in office. On October 24th 1999 Chafee died of heart-failure at Walter Reed Army Medical Center at the age of 77
