Description

In the United States military, a beret flash is a shield shaped embroidered item worn on the front of the beret over the left eye. With a stiffener backing, this gives the beret the flat forward edge. The excess cloth of the beret is folded and pulled over the right ear giving it the distinctive shape. The background is the approved distinctive heraldic colors of the unit. Enlisted personnel pin their distinctive unit insignia on the center of the background, while officers pin their insignia of rank on the center.[1]
