The University of New Mexico–Los Alamos, (UNM-LA) is a branch campus of the University of New Mexico located in Los Alamos, New Mexico. UNM-LA offers 14 certificate programs and 18 associate degree programs.[2] Upper division and graduate courses are available on campus through Extended University. In addition, UNM-LA offers a Dual Credit program, which allows high school students to take college classes, an adult basic education program for students seeking to take the General Education Development (GED) examination, and an ESL (English as a Second Language) program. Students often work part-time at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
UNM-LA offers programs for both students wishing to transfer to four-year institutions and a variety of occupationally oriented programs. UNM-LA is especially well known for its STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) programs. UNM-LA offers the only associate degree in Computer Gaming in New Mexico. Other technical programs include Network Administration, Web Technologies, Digital Media Arts, Computer Science, Environmental Science, and Pre-Engineering. The Applied Technology program, which trains technicians, offers four concentrations: Solar Technology, Electro Mechanical Technology, Nano Technology and Manufacturing Technology.
