University of Wisconsin–Whitewater at Rock County
The University of Wisconsin–Rock County, part of the University of Wisconsin Colleges, is a two-year campus of the University of Wisconsin System located in Janesville, Wisconsin, USA. The current Dean of the campus is Carmen Wilson.
UW–Rock County (often referred to by locals as "U Rock") is one of 13 freshman-sophomore liberal arts transfer campuses of the UW Colleges and offers a general education associate degree. After beginning their studies at UW–Rock County, where the student/teacher ratio in most classes is 20-1, students transfer to other UW System institutions as well as to colleges and universities throughout the country to complete their bachelor's degrees.
The campus hosts the Rock County Engineering Program,[1] a partnership with UW–Platteville offering a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering. This program was established to support the industrial base of Rock County.
The school's athletic teams, known as the Rattlers, participate in three sports: co-ed soccer, men's and women's basketball, and volleyball. In addition, UW-Rock has a very active fine arts program including an art department that offers classes in drawing, oil painting, and design, an active theater area that regularly produces plays and musicals (often including cutting edge and contemporary offerings), and a diverse music department that offers such classes as music theory, aural skills, and ensemble offerings including two separate choirs, a chamber orchestra, a jazz band, and a concert band.
