A week after, Shuttle's record label MagnoliaRecords released the highly anticipated compilation album Modern Art.

Early Life

[edit]

Cameron Joseph Dailey was born in Marin County, California. Dailey lived with his mother and father in Novato, Marin County. Located in the north western Bay Area, the neighborhood was notorious for wealthy middle to upperclass families and had an impact on a young Dailey, "I grew up in like the nice part of town. But there was also like, sketch areas around.". His mother worked in sales and his father worked for Old Navy. Dailey attended Novato High School and graduated at eighteen. Dailey then attended the Arizona State University, before dropping out his sophomore year to fully pursue his music career.

After dropping out, Dailey immediately moved to Los Angeles to further his music career. His parents, frustrated that he had dropped out of school, eventually cut him off financially.

2015-17: Wins and Lil Shuttle

[edit]

Now in Phoenix and with a small following Shuttle was able to finally record in a professional music studio and in late 2015 got to work on his first mixtape Wins. Production for the album was handled by another one of Shuttle’s childhood friends Oreo who was at school in Miami at time. The project did relatively well for Shuttle at the time but after school payment Shuttle was low on money and could barely afford to keep going to the studio.

By early 2017 he would scrounge up enough money to record his self titled second mixtape Lil Shuttle. The lead single to the project "Oceans" blew up now sitting at around 30 million plays on Soundcloud. To the dismay of Shuttle's parents he chose to drop out of college and move to LA to focus more on his musical career. Off of the success of the Lil Shuttle project Shuttle would go on a small tour. The project would also garner attention from big artists such as Lil Uzi Vert, XXXTentacion and Travis Scott. It would also receive attention from labels and Shuttle would sign with Kanye West’s GOOD Music.

[edit]

9 was released on June 13, 2018, by GOOD Music and Epic Records. The album features guest appearances from Lil Puff, Lil Bro and Shade, and includes production from Mike Dean, Kanye West, Oreo and Shuttle himself, among others. The album was supported by two singles: "Magi" featuring Shade, and "VVS". 9 received generally positive reviews from critics and debuted at number twenty three on the US Billboard 200 chart. It also debuted at number three on the Billboard Rap Albums chart.

On July 3, 2019, Shuttle announced that Arizona was finally finished in a story on Snapchat. Shuttle premiered the album on his episode of Travis Scott's .wav radio on Arizona, and was later released on iTunes and Apple Music. On July 21, 2019, the album became Shuttle's first number one album on the US Billboard 200.
