This page serves the analysis of the contributions of User:MacLeinin to see to which extent plagiarism or copyright infringements took place. My first findings which lead to this investigation are here. Help and suggestions are welcome.

[edit]

The table below is now complete in that regard that I've checked all major contributions of this user. It is, however, not yet complete in listing the possible infringements as I have not the entire literature used at hand.

Notes regarding the table below:

  • Article: link to the article. Note that in two cases the contributions are buried in the history of a redirect where the text was copied and pasted by other editors in violation of WP:SPLIT into a newly created article.
  • Link: There was usually a series of 1–20 edits within a short time period inserting the possibly infringing material. This is a difflink covering these inserts or a permanent link if the article was created by MacLeinin. In some cases these links include some minor edits of others.
  • Literature: The literature which was given by this user at the end of the articles he created or extended. The tags reference the other table below. Some of these references were used to copy significant parts of these articles. In other cases, they were not used at all and served apparently only as recommendation for further reading.
  • Comments: Comments about possibly findings. Note that in case of similarities to web pages it is hard to determine five years later who has copied from whom without further evidence. But these web pages include those of Fáilte Ireland (discoverireland.ie) which uses definitively its own texts and the Friends of St. Colman’s Cathedral (foscc.com) which have their own publications and who are unlikely to lift from en-wp.

The order of the entries follows the order of the contributions.
