Edit Wars[edit]

Edit War is basically when two or more editors dominate each others work overiding what they have said. When editings have this war between each other it is at risk for themself because it can cause their own page to be blocked or banned from Wikipedia. It would be better to agree and talk it out rather not to talk again and keep overiding each others work, in that case the point they are both trying to make will never be made.

An example of Edit War would be on the hot topic page of Abortion-rights_movements . On this page there were a lot of reverting which means that editors were undoing actions of other editors. Even though there are exceptions for reverting they all apply to one editor at a time. Each ediot is allowed to revert only three times on one page. If a editor does a fourth revert it is considered a 3RRR violation. As you can see on the history of this page possible violations of vandalism has occured.

Alcoholism In The Workplace[edit]

Alcoholism is defined as an illness characterized by an inability to control the consumption of alcohol to the extent that intoxication is inevitable once drinking. So many people in this world suffer from alcoholism just as any major health threat like cancer or heart disease. Alcoholism is an addiction just as any drug and it interferes with your health and daily functions. Some people think they need to drink alcohol everyday or as soon as they sober up to feel better or to function in general. Over 14 billion suffer from this deadly problem everyday and majority of the people even bring it into their workplace.

Ten percent of the U.S workforce has been claimed to be alcoholics. Companies and large businesses lose billions of dollars each year because of alcoholism in the workplace. Businesses lose large sums of money when an employer is drunk, then he or she isn’t able to function properly. The cost is attributable to absenteeism, tardiness, errors and accidents, low productivity, inefficiency, and often the dismissal of valuable employees in whom money and training time was invested. Most alcoholics are viewed as poorly educated people but according to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), more than 70 percent of known alcoholics are professional, semiprofessional, or managerial employees. Some would say that stress and the workplace in general causes alcoholism.

When employees, managers and anyone that has been caught drinking alcohol or being drunk in the workplace also comes with many consequences. Many initiatives usually include written policy and procedure statements, supervisor training in substance abuse identification, urine testing and retesting, and providing employees with the option to obtain and successfully complete treatment or face disciplinary action. Many people also say that simple programs like therapy and rehabilitations can cure it, but then again many others say this is a serious issue and should be treated as soon as someone is diagnosed. Such programs that are recommended for alcoholism are usually very effective in reducing absenteeism, promoting recovery, minimizing relapses, cutting treatment costs, and improving productivity among drug abusers and alcoholics.
