Adam Pardoe (born August 10, 1984) is an English professional wrestler and actor. He is currently signed to WWE where he performs on its Smackdown brand. He made his WWE debut on the January 7th 2008 episode of Raw defeating Jeff Hardy. Despite not competing in the 2008 Royal Rumble Pardoe would go on to compete in the remainder of WWE pay-per-view events throughout the rest of 2008.

Prior to his WWE debut Pardoe competed in various independent promotions also using his own name. He was first discovered by WWE when Stephanie McMahon attended a show that Pardoe was working in the U.K in 2007.

Early life[edit]

Adam Pardoe was born August 10, 1984 in Doncaster, England where he would live until joining WWE. Pardoe attended North Doncaster Technology College in Adwick. At the age of 14 Pardoe decided that he wanted to be a professional wrestler. Aged 15 Pardoe made his professional wrestling debut.

Professional wrestling career[edit]

Pardoe made is professional wrestling debut in 1999 at the age of just 15. In 2004 Pardoe debuted in NWA UK Hammerlock Wrestling where he would win the NWA United Kingdom Heavyweight Championship. In January 2007 Pardoe would make his debut for All Star Wrestling, it was here that he was discovered by Stephanie McMahon in September 2007. Pardoe would continue to perform for All Star Wrestling until November before being officially signed by WWE in December 2007.


World Wrestling Entertainment / WWE[edit]

Debut and various feuds (2008)[edit]

After defeating Jeff Hardy in his debut Pardoe would go on to win several high profile matches through January and February. At No Way Out 2008 Pardoe would enter the Elimination Chamber match for a WWE Championship match at Wrestlemania XXIV, Pardoe would remain in the match until the final two only to be defeated by Triple H after a Pedigree onto a steel chair.

At Wrestlemania Pardoe was unsuccessful in his bid to win the Money in the Bank ladder match. At Backlash 2008 Pardoe won his first championship in WWE defeating Montel Vontavious Porter for the United States Championship. Pardoe's first title defence was at Judgment Day 2008 where he would defeat M.V.P who had been granted a rematch on Raw. At One Night Stand 2008 Pardoe would face Jeff Hardy in a Falls Count Anywhere match for the United States Championship a match that Pardoe would retain the championship in after putting Hardy through a table. After attacking Matt Hardy on Raw it was announced that Pardoe would defend the United States Championship against Hardy at Night of Champions 2008 where Pardoe would once againg retain his championship. After defeating Hardy at Night of Champions Pardoe would be challenged by Shelton Benjamin for a championship match at The Great American Bash 2008 a challenge that Pardoe would at first reject but would be forced into by Raw General Manager Mike Adamle. At the event Pardoe was defeated by Benjamin ending his reign as the United States Champion.

After losing his championship Pardoe would take out his anger the next night on Raw attacking Matt Hardy this led to a match with Matt's brother Jeff at SummerSlam 2008. Pardoe would go on to defeat Jeff at SummerSlam thus ending the feud between him and the Hardy's. At Unforgiven 2008 Pardoe was a part of the Championship Scramble match for the WWE Championship a match that saw Triple H retain the title despite Pardoe gaining three falls throughout the match. The next night on Raw Pardoe would challenge Triple H to a WWE Championship match at No Mercy 2008 a challenge that was accepted, at the event Pardoe was unsuccessful in his bid to become WWE Champion. At Cyber Sunday 2008 Pardoe would once again face Triple H for the WWE Championship but was once again defeated.

On the October 27 edition of Raw Pardoe would form an alliance with Randy Orton and would join Team Orton for the match against Team Batista at Survivor Series 2008. At the pay-per-view Pardoe would eliminate CM Punk on the way to Team Orton being victorious, the final fall came when Orton pinned Batista after an RKO leaving Pardoe and Orton as the sole survivors. The next night on Raw Pardoe claimed that his success at Survivor Series meant he should be a contender for the WWE Championship at Armageddon 2008. On the December 1 episode of Raw Pardoe was placed in the WWE Championship match alongside Triple H and Edge. On the December 8 edition of Raw Pardoe would lay-out Triple H with a steel chair before being given a spear from Edge leaving Pardoe and Triple H laid out out as Raw went off the air. At Armageddon Pardoe defeated Triple H and Edge to become the new WWE Champion as well as England's first ever WWE Champion. On the December 15 episode of Raw a number one contender match for the WWE Championship took place between Edge and Triple H, the match saw Edge beat Triple H and become number one contender. On the final Raw of 2008 Pardoe attacked Edge putting him through the announce table.

WWE and World Heavyweight Champion (2009)[edit]

On the January 5 episode of Raw Pardoe announced that Edge could not touch him before Royal Rumble 2009 if he did then there would be no match and Edge would be suspended. On January 19 episode of Raw Pardoe dared Edge to touch him which he did by hitting a spear on Pardoe. Pardoe then demanded that Edge be stripped of the number one contender spot and be suspended but Raw General Manager Stephanie McMahon ignored this request instead making the WWE Championship match a No Disqualification match. At the Royal Rumble Pardoe defeated Edge after Randy Orton distracted Edge allowing Pardoe to put him through a table.

On the February 2 edition of Raw Pardoe was attacked by Edge backstage who claimed he would take the WWE Championship from Pardoe at No Way Out 2009. At the pay-per-view Pardoe eliminated Edge with a cradle just minutes into Elimination Chamber match, however Pardoe would go on to lose the WWE Championship after being eliminated by The Undertaker.

On the February 16 episode of Raw Pardoe attacked The Undertaker and challenged him to a match at Wrestlemania XXV. On February 23 episode of Raw The Undertaker responded by attacking Pardoe and accepting the challenge. Pardoe would then attack The Undertaker on Raw for two consecutive weeks. At Wrestlemania The Undertaker defeated Pardoe. After the loss at Wrestlemania Pardoe was absent from WWE TV for a month, he made his return on May 8 edition of Friday Night Smackdown challeging Edge to a World Heavyweight Championship match at Judgment Day 2009. On the May 15 episode or Smackdown Edge accepted the challenge after the match was confirmed General Manager Teddy Long informed them that they were to not attack each other before the pay-per-view. At Judgment Day Edge defeated Pardoe to retain the World Heavyweight Championship. On the May 22 episode of Smackdown Pardoe was granted a rematch at Extreme Rules 2009. On May 29 edition of Smackdown General Manager Teddy Long announced that the championship match at Extreme Rules would be a Ladder match. At Extreme Rules Edge once again defeated Pardoe, after the match Pardoe would attack Edge with a steel chair laying him out and allowing CM Punk to cash in his Money in the Bank contract and become the World Heavyweight Champion.

On the June 12 edition of Smackdown Pardoe demanded a match against CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship, this promoted General Manager Teddy Long to make a number one contender match between Pardoe and Edge the following week on Smackdown. On the June 19 episode of Smackdown Pardoe announced that if he beat Edge later in the night that Edge would not only be out of the title picture, but he would not be allowed to interfere in any of Pardoe's title matches or he would be fired. Pardoe went on to defeat Edge later in the night and become number one contender. At WWE The Bash CM Punk would get himself intentionally disqualified thus retaining the championship as it can not change hands on a disqualification. On the 3 July episode of Smackdown Pardoe would turn face and announce that he had been granted one more match for the World Heavyweight Championship at Night Of Champions 2009. Over the next several weeks Punk would attack Pardoe after his matches. Punk also stated that if Pardoe lost at Night of Champions then not only would Pardoe be out of the title picture but that he would be drafted back to Raw. At the Night of Champions pay-per-view Pardoe defeated CM Punk to become the new World Heavyweight Champion.

On the July 31 episode of Smackdown it was announced that CM Punk would get a rematch for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam 2009. Later on the same episode it was announced that the pair were not to get involved with each other, if they did then Punk would be stripped on the number one contender spot, if Pardoe got involved then he would be stripped of the World Heavyweight Championship. Over the next several weeks Pardoe and Punk got into a war of words and Punk would continually insult Pardoe personally to try and provoke him to assault Punk, all insults of which failed. At SummerSlam Punk defeated Pardoe to reclaim to World Heavyweight Championship. During the final moments of the match Punk would push Pardoe off a ladder and through a table resulting in Pardoe suffering a broken right arm. WWE.com later announced that Pardoe was expected to be out of action for three months after having successful surgery.

Return to Raw (2009-2010)[edit]

Pardoe would return to WWE on the November 2 edition of Raw, announcing that he would captain his own team against Team Orton at Survivor Series 2009. On the November 9 episode of Raw Pardoe announced his team as did Orton. On the November 16 episode of Raw CM Punk would attack Pardoe from behind before Mark Henry and R-Truth would make the save. At Survivor Series Team Pardoe would defeat Team Orton with Pardoe being the sole survivor for his team, during the match Pardoe would eliminate CM Punk and Randy Orton. This match would also see the end to Pardoe's feud with CM Punk.

On the November 23 episode of Raw Randy Orton would challange Pardoe to a match at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs (2009) with the winner becoming number one contender for the WWE Championship. On the November 30 edition of Raw both Pardoe and Orton were attacked by the WWE Champion Sheamus. On the December 7 episode of Raw Pardoe and Orton would gain revenge on Sheamus attacking him after his match and Orton would RKO him on the announce table. At TLC Orton defeated Pardoe to become the number one contender.

Throughout January Pardoe never established a rivalry claiming that he was focused on winning the Royal Rumble 2010. On January 31 Pardoe entered his first Royal Rumble match eliminating Drew McIntyre, CM Punk and Kane before being eliminated by Shawn Micheals.

On the February 8 edition of Raw Pardoe defeated Jack Swagger to qualify for the Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship. At the pay-per-view on February 21 Pardoe would eliminate Ted DiBiase before himself being eliminated by Sheamus after a High Cross.

On the February 22 episode of Raw Pardoe would qualify for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at Wrestlemania XXVI by defeating Ted DiBiase. Over the next four weeks Pardoe would face Carlito, Matt Hardy, Dolph Ziggler and Chris Masters all of which he would defeat. At Wrestlemania Pardoe failed to capture the Money in the Bank contract which was won by Jack Swagger.

On the April 5 episode of Raw Pardoe was attacked by Sheamus with a Brogue Kick. A week later on the April 12 episode of Raw Pardoe would attack Sheamus backstage before the pair would be separated by officials. On the April 19 edition of Raw it was announced that Pardoe would face Sheamus at Extreme Rules 2010 in a Street Fight. At the pay-per-view Sheamus would defeat Pardoe after putting him through a table and then hitting a Brogue Kick. Pardoe would return to Raw on May 24 to face Sheamus with the winner qualifying for the WWE Championship match at Fatal 4-Way (2010), Sheamus would defeat Pardoe to qualify. On May 31 Pardoe would be given one last chance to qualify if he could defeat a mystery oppenent on the June 7 episode of Raw. On the June 7 edition of Raw Pardoe defeated Edge to qualify for the WWE Championship match at Fatal 4-Way alongside Randy Orton, Sheamus and John Cena. At the pay-per-view Pardoe was unsuccessful in his bid to win the WWE Championship, after both he and John Cena were attacked by the the rookies from the first season of WWE NXT. During the chaos Sheamus would pin Cena to become WWE Champion.

The night after Fatal 4-Way Pardoe would defeat Cody Rhodes to qualify for the Raw Money in the Bank ladder match.In the weeks leading up to Money in the Bank 2010 Pardoe would be one of several WWE Superstars to be assaulted by The Nexus. At the Money in the Bank event Pardoe was unsuccessful in the Raw ladder match with The Miz going on to claim the contract.

On the July 19 episode of Raw it was announced by the anonymous General Manager that Pardoe would compete in a match to determine the number one contender for the WWE Championship. Pardoe's opponent would turn out to be Chris Jericho whom he would go on to defeat thus becoming the number one contender. On the July 26 edition of Raw the WWE Champion Sheamus informed Pardoe that if he lost at SummerSlam 2010 then he would not get a rematch and would be out of the title picture. On the August 2 episode of Raw the anonymous General Manager stated that if anybody got involved in the match then they would be suspended indefinitely. On the August 9 episode of Raw Pardoe and Sheamus were told they could not get involved with one another before the pay-per-view as the General Manager did not want a repeat of what happened between the pair in April. At SummerSlam Sheamus would get disqualified thus retaining his championship but due the fact that Pardoe won the match not ensuring that Pardoe was out of the title picture.

On the August 23 episode of Raw the anonymous General Manager announced a Six-Pack Challenge Elimination Match, for the WWE Championship at Night of Champions 2010 consisting of Adam Pardoe, Sheamus, Wade Barrett, Edge, John Cena and Chris Jericho. At the pay-per-view Pardoe eliminated Jericho, Barrett and Sheamus on his way to becoming the new WWE Champion.

WWE Champion and feud with The Nexus (2010)[edit]

On the September 20 edition of Raw all other competitors from the Six-Pack Challenge competed in another elimination match to determine the new number one contender for the WWE Championship. The match was won by Sheamus, on the September 27 edition of Raw Sheamus would attack Pardoe during a match with Chris Jericho. At Hell in a Cell 2010 Pardoe would defeat Sheamus in a Hell in a Cell match to retain the WWE Championship.

The next contender for Pardoe's WWE Championship would be decided by a battle royal on Raw which was won by Wade Barrett. On the October 18 episode of Raw, Barrett announced that if he did not win the match at Bragging Rights 2010 then John Cena would be fired, this due to the fact that Cena had been forced to join The Nexus. At Bragging Barrett defeated Pardoe via disqualification after Cena hit an Attitude Adjustment on Barrett, this meant that Barrett won the match but not the WWE Championship as it can not change hands on a disqualification.

On the October 25 episode of Raw Barrett announced that he would get a rematch for the WWE Championship at Survivor Series 2010. Later that night Pardoe would face off against Cena, if Pardoe won then he would get to pick the special guest referee for the match at Survivor Series, if Cena won then Barrett would pick the referee. Cena would beat Pardoe by disqualification after Barrett attacked Cena in the middle of the match, the same thing Cena had done to Barrett the night before. Barrett went on to announce Cena as the special guest referee also stating that if he did not win the WWE Championship at Survivor Series then he would fire Cena on the spot. On the November 15 episode of Raw the General Manager stated that the match at Survivor Series would be a Pinfall-and-Submissions-only match. At the pay-per-view Pardoe would defeat Barrett to retain the WWE Championship this also meant that due to the stipulation of the match that Cena was fired from WWE.

On the November 22 episode of Raw Pardoe would one again face off against Barrett in a rematch for the WWE Championship, before the match took place Pardoe was attacked by The Nexus injuring his knee. Despite the pre-match attack Pardoe would retain only for The Miz to cash in his Money in the Bank contract and defeat Pardoe to become the WWE Champion.

On the November 29 edition of Raw Pardoe announced that he would get a rematch for the WWE Championship at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs (2010). On the December 6 episode of Raw the General Manager announced that the match at TLC would be a Tables Match. On the December 13 episode of Raw The Miz stated that if Pardoe lost at TLC then he would not be granted another rematch as long as he was WWE Champion. At the pay-per-view The Miz would defeat Pardoe despite it being Alex Riley responsible for putting Pardoe through the table. The following night on Raw Pardoe was ordered to stay away from The Miz and Alex Riley or he would be fired.

Various feuds (2011)[edit]

Throughout January Pardoe stated that his goal was to win the Royal Rumble and main event Wrestlemania. After remaining undefeated in January Pardoe would enter the 2011 Royal Rumble where he would eliminate Wade Barrett and Kofi Kingston only to be eliminated by Alberto Del Rio.

On the January 31 episode of Raw, the General Manager announced that there would be qualifying matches over the next several weeks for the Elimination Chamber match, to determine the number one contender for the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania. On the February 7 episode of Raw Pardoe defeated R-Truth to qualify. At Elimination Chamber 2011 Pardoe would eliminate Sheamus before being eliminated by CM Punk after a G.T.S.

The following night on Raw Pardoe was attacked by Punk and The New Nexus, this led to the General Manager announcing that Pardoe would face Punk at Wrestlemania. In the weeks leading up to Wrestlemania Pardoe was placed in singles matches against all members of The New Nexus, it was also stated that if The New Nexus members lost then they would be banned from ringside at Wrestlemania. Pardoe went on to defeat all members ensuring that his match with Punk would be one on one with all members of The New Nexus banned from ringside. At Wrestlemania XXVII Pardoe defeated Punk this would ultimately be the beginning of the end for Nexus as the group split only a few months later.

After defeating Punk at Wrestlemania Pardoe would be attacked by The New Nexus on several occasions as Punk looked for revenge after his Wrestlemania defeat. On the April 25 episode of Raw Punk would challenge Pardoe to a Last Man Standing match at Extreme Rules 2011 a challenge that Pardoe would accept. At the pay-per-view Pardoe would once again defeat Punk thus ending the feud.

Following Extreme Rules Pardoe was absent from WWE for a month while filming No One Lives for WWE Studios. Pardoe would return to WWE at WWE Capitol Punishment to face The Miz whom he defeated. The following night on Raw it was announced that there would be qualifying matches for the Raw Money in the Bank ladder match. On the July 4 episode of Raw Pardoe defeated David Otunga to qualify. At Money in the Bank 2011 Pardoe was unsuccessful in becoming the Money in the Bank contract holder as the match was won by Alberto Del Rio.

On July 22 Pardoe returned to Friday Night Smackdown where he would be attacked by Mark Henry. On the July 29 episode of Smackdown General Manager Teddy Long announced that Pardoe would face Henry at SummerSlam (2011). In the two weeks leading up to SummerSlam Pardoe and Henry would engage in brawls having to be separated by officials on both occasions. At the SummerSlam pay-per-view Henry would defeat Pardoe via count out. After SummerSlam WWE.com reported that Pardoe had been injured by Henry after being put through the ringside barricade this was a way to write Pardoe off TV for a few months as he continued to film No One Lives for WWE Studios.

Pardoe returned to WWE on the November 4 edition of Smackdown challenging Mark Henry to a World Heavyweight Championship match at Survivor Series 2011, Henry though would not accept nor decline the challenge stating that he would have an answer for Pardoe the following week. On the November 11 edition of Smackdown Henry would accept the match on the condition that Pardoe could not touch him before the pay-per-view a condition that Pardoe accepted. On the November 18 episode of Smackdown Henry would attempt to attack Pardoe but was told by General Manager Teddy Long that if he did so he would be stripped of the World Heavyweight Championship. At Survivor Series Henry would retain after getting himself intentionally disqualified after a low blow.

On the November 25 episode of Smackdown it was announced that Pardoe would get a rematch at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs (2011), however this match would only take place if the pair did not get involved with each other before then unless it was in a match. On the December 2 episode of Smackdown it was announced that the match at TLC would be a Chairs match. At WWE Tribute to the Troops 2011 Pardoe teamed with CM Punk and John Cena in a winning effort against Alberto Del Rio, The Miz and Mark Henry. At the TLC pay-per-view, Pardoe defeated Henry to become the new World Heavyweight Champion, only to be attacked by Henry after the match with a DDT onto a steel chair, this allowed Daniel Bryan to cash in his Money in the Bank contract and become the World Heavyweight Champion.

On the December 23 episode of Smackdown Pardoe was told that if he wanted a rematch for the World Heavyweight Championship then he would have to earn it by winning the Royal Rumble 2012. In the weeks leading up to the pay-per-view Pardoe stated that no matter what happened at the Royal Rumble he would get his hands on Daniel Bryan.

Royal Rumble winner (2012-present)[edit]

On January 29 Pardoe won the Royal Rumble after entering at number 22 and last eliminating Chris Jericho. On the February 3 episode of Smackdown Pardoe stated that he would not announce the champion that he would face until after Elimination Chamber (2012). After Daniel Bryan retained the World Heavyweight Championship at the pay-per-view, Pardoe would attack him thus stating his intention to face him at Wrestlemania XXVIII. In the weeks leading up to Wrestlemania, Bryan would constantly attack Pardoe stating that he was only doing this for Pardoe's own good, as he could not defeat him. At Wrestlemania Pardoe defeated Bryan in a record eighteen seconds to become the World Heavyweight Champion.

On the April 6 episode of Smackdown Bryan demanded to face Pardoe at Extreme Rules 2012 in a rematch for the World Heavyweight Championship. On the April 13 edition of Smackdown it was announced that Pardoe would face Bryan at Extreme Rules in a rematch, after the announcement Bryan would attack Pardoe with the Yes Lock. On the April 20 episode of Smackdown General Manager John Laurinaitis announced that the match would be a 2-out-of-3 falls match. At the pay-per-view Pardoe defeated Bryan by 2 falls to 1 to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.

On the May 11 edition of Smackdown General Manager John Laurinaitis announced that Pardoe would defend the World Heavyweight Championship at Over the Limit (2012) in a Fatal Four-Way Match. On the May 18 episode of Smackdown the other participants were announced they were Randy Orton, Alberto Del Rio and Chris Jericho. At Over the Limit Pardoe once again retained the World Heavyweight Championship after pinning Chris Jericho.

On the May 25 episode of Smackdown Alberto Del Rio was named the number one contender this meaning that he would face Pardoe at No Way Out 2012. In the weeks leading up to No Way Out Del Rio would constantly attack Pardoe even costing him a match against Daniel Bryan. On the June 8 episode of Smackdown Del Rio would suffer a concussion in a match against The Great Khali, this would rule him out of the World Heavyweight Championship match against Pardoe a No Way Out. On the June 15 episode of Smackdown it was announced that there would be a Battle Royal to determine the new number one contender. The match was won by Dolph Ziggler meaning that he would get a championship match against Pardoe. At No Way Out Pardoe defeated Ziggler to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.

On the June 22 edition of Smackdown, Del Rio returned and stated that he would finally get his one on one match against Pardoe for the World Heavyweight Championship, at Money in the Bank (2012). On the June 29 episode of Smackdown Del Rio and Ricardo Rodriguez would attack Pardoe, during the attack Pardoe suffered a concussion and would not be able to compete until Money in the Bank. Despite the concussion Pardoe would still appear on Smackdown in the weeks after the attack by Del Rio, costing him matches against Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel. At Money in the Bank despite not being fully recovered Pardoe defeated Del Rio to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.

On the July 27 edition of Smackdown Del Rio confirmed that he would receive a rematch at SummerSlam 2012. The following week on the August 3 edition of Smackdown Pardoe would attack Del Rio after his match against Randy Orton leading to Orton giving Del Rio the RKO. On the August 10 episode of Smackdown Pardoe was scheduled to defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Del Rio but would be attacked before the match could start. At SummerSlam Pardoe defeated Del Rio to retain despite Del Rio's foot being on the bottom rope.

Following SummerSlam, Del Rio was placed in a number one contenders match against Randy Orton on Smackdown, to determine the Pardoe's opponent at Night of Champions (2012). Del Rio defeated Orton via submission thus once again becoming number one contender. At Night of Champions Pardoe defeated Del Rio again to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.

After defeating Del Rio at Night Of Champions Big Show became number one contender by defeating Randy Orton. In the weeks leading up to Hell in a Cell 2012 Pardoe and Show were involved in several altercations having to be separated on numerous occasions. At the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view Big Show defeated Pardoe to become the new World Heavyweight Champion, thus ending Pardoe's reign at 210 days.

Following Hell in a Cell Pardoe and Big Show would continue their fued into Survivor Series 2012 where Show would retain after getting himself intentinally disqualfied. Following the match at Survivor Series it was announced on Smackdown that Pardoe and Big Show would once again face off for the World Heavyweight Championship at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs (2012) in a chairs match, following this announcement Smackdown general manager Booker T made Pardoe and Show sign a no contact clause which stated, if Pardoe attacked Show then he would lose his match at TLC and should Show attack Pardoe then he would be stripped of the World Heavyweight Championship. At TLC Big Show defeated Pardoe to retain after an attack with a large steel chair.

Pardoe will star in the WWE Studios film No One Lives.

Personal life[edit]

Pardoe writes left-handed. When Pardoe was 5 his parents split. He previously dated former WWE Diva Maryse Ouellet for six months in 2008. Since June 2010 he has been dating WWE Diva Eve Torres, the couple were engaged in September 2012. He is a supporter of the football team Doncaster Rovers. Pardoe has a degree in mechanical engineering from Manchester University. While studying mechanical engineering Pardoe helped to build the robot Chaos 2 which went on to become twice winner of the UK Robot Wars championship.
