Nnamani Chimaobi John (born 11 April 2006), professionally known by his stage name Johnel also called Johnel NG is a Nigerian rapper, singer and songwriter.[1]

Early Life

Born and raised in Lagos, Johnel is from Enugu State. He used to do music freestyles in the street at a tender age. Johnel started music at the age of 13, then he went after the stage name 'Johnel'. He was also know in school as called to represent anytime entertainment was needed. His passion for music drove him to form a rap trio called Triggerz, but they separated in less than a year of their collaboration. When he was 15, he attracted the attention of celebrities on Instagram such as Dax, Dandizzy, Lil frosh and others.[2][3]

Music career

In 2022, Johnel released Run It a hip hop single featuring Gusty Guy.[4] He released Dance and Champagne also in 2022.[2] He released another afrobeat single Kolo[5] which peaked top 5 charts on Anghami.[6][7] In 2023, he released his debut trap/R&B extended play Conversations with Myself.[8] Johnel was nominated for the best hip hop artist in the TNMA Awards.[9]
