Hugh McKenna (12 February 1908 - 1 October 1998) was a Scottish painter, cartoonist and carpet designer.[1][2]
Life
[edit]His father was Hugh McKenna [Snr] (4 February 1885 - 11 December 1947), a furniture packer from Glasgow.
His mother was Agnes Gresham (2 December 1885 - 1 April 1948), a French polisher from Newcastle Upon Tyne in England. Hugh [Snr] and Agnes married in Camlachie, Glasgow on 10 April 1908.
Hugh McKenna was born on 12 February 1908 in Glasgow.[3]
He found work in Templeton's carpet factory in Glasgow.
He married Jemima Burns Gilmour (3 April 1908 - 1981). They married in 1932 in Calton, Glasgow. The couple had two daughters.
