Patients should go through at least a treatment that includes ten 1-hour sessions of physiotherapy. In this one hour session, it is recommended for physical therapists to stretch the palmar fascia to promote soft tissue mobilization as well as provide nerve gliding exercises[1]. Also, it was recommended for patients to have sessions of hand therapy so that there can be softening of the surgical scar. Motor performing skills and re-educational exercises as well as sensory stimulation of the affected area are beneficial for recovery because they elongate segments of the peripheral nervous system[2].
The injection should be inserted into the carpal tunnel, in the medial side to the palmaris longus tendon and the median nerve. The patient will experience discomfort and may have pain and/or swelling for the first 24-hours.[3]
