Discovery of Boron

 Boron was discovered June 30,1808 by Joseph Louis Gay-Lussac, Louis Jacques Thénard,and Humphry Davy. Boron was created by combining boric acid with potassium. Boron was originally used for as a rocket fuel igniter and used in pyrotechnic flares such as fireworks. Boron's name

comes from the Arabic word buraq meaning "white." Boron is number five on the periodic table. Boron is a tough element to isolate because it is never found alone in nature. Boron is always part of bigger compounds. <ref><http://www.chem4kids.com/files/elements/005_speak.html/ref> Boron can be found in ceramics, soaps, flare guns, flare guns etc.

Boron is in group 13 on the Lewis Dot Diagram. Because it is in this group it will have three valence electrons.
