Immigrant Services Calgary

Established in 1977 as the Calgary Immigrant Aid Society, Immigrant Services Calgary is one of Alberta’s longest serving and most comprehensive settlement agencies dedicated to ensuring that immigrants and their families have the opportunity to become successful participants and contributors in the community they choose to call home.

Providing assistance in over 70 languages, Immigrant Services Calgary helps individuals and families settle into life and work in the Calgary community by offering:

• Support for newcomers to adjust to life in Canada • Information about community servicesVolunteer opportunities • Interpretation services • Translation services • Citizenship classes • Assessment of English and literacy skills • Information and referral for English language classes • Career, educational and vocational planning • Referral to family and community support services • Family programs including: o Pre-school programs o Pre- and post-natal programs o Employment programs o Parent support groups o Family literacy programs o Women’s Mentorship program o Men’s program o Seniors programs

Immigrant Services Calgary also hosts the annual Immigrants of Distinction Awards to recognize and celebrate immigrants’ success and excellence in: arts and culture; business; community service; distinguished professional; and organizational diversity.
