The Ammonyte is an IT Guy with interests in Geology (especially relating to Planetary Geology), Photography, and sport - particularly Rugby Union and Cricket. The Ammonyte lives in the United Kingdom from where he maintains a blog[1] and a basic website.[2] The Ammonyte can sometimes be seen walking the Hills of the Lake District, or attending music festivals, such as The Maryport Blues Festival[3].

Geology

The Ammonyte gained a BSc from The Open University in 1999, and a Diploma in Earth Sciences in 2000.

Sport

After being injured running in the 2004 Nottingham Half Marathon, the only active sport the Ammonyte participates in are occasional Mountain Bike Navigation races[4], however he maintains an active interest in watching Rugby Union attending international matches at Twickenham (often as a carer to a disabled spectator), The Stoop (home to the Harlequins Rugby Football Club[5]) and in summer watching Cricket at Lords and The Oval

Hill Walking

The Ammonyte likes to bimble around remote places in England, Wales and Scotland and has a distinct preference for Wasdale in the Lake District. He is a supporter of the Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team[6]

IT

After a career in Corporate IT, the Ammonyte left to run his own company consulting on IT issues for Small Businesses and Home Workers
