History
[edit]Founded in Bergamo in 1922 under the name Lovato & C. Officina Elettromeccanica with the purpose of building switches in air and oil.[2]
In 1948 the company's plants saw a transition from switch production to the production of bar- or base-mounted contactors. In 1960, the production of one-piece contactors began, gradually replacing those on bar or baseplate.
In 1963, the factory opens (today's headquarters) located in Gorle (Bergamo) on an area of 14,000 square meters, thus the company's beating heart took shape.
In 1975, the integration of the "historical" production of electromechanical components with electronic product lines takes place. Between the early 1990s and the first decade of the 2000s, the first foreign branches are opened in Germany, the United Kingdom and the Czech Republic. Thus begins the internationalization of the company.[3][4][5]
In 1992 it is among the first 50 Italian companies to obtain Quality System certification in accordance with the ISO 9001 standard.
In 2001 the company achieved ACAE/LOVAG Certification (EN 45011 compliant) for the testing laboratory. With the inauguration in the following year of the new 3,500-square-meter R&D center, the company joined the world of Industry 4.0[6]
In 2019, with an investment of about three million euros, LOVATO Electric is building a state-of-the-art laboratory in Italy that will enable the company to reduce the time for new product development and gain additional know-how.[7]
It has contributed to the development of Italian electrical engineering through its investment and internationalization policy over the years.[8] Despite this, it is close to the institutions and the territory in which it have her roots, in fact it become an ambassador and supporter of the Donizetti Theater,[9] in 2019 took the opportunity to support an exhibition dedicated to Raphael, in 2021 it was a supporting partner in the exhibition "Rembrandt in una storia meravigliosa" at the Accademia Carrara in Bergamo[10][11] and in 2022 supported the "Velazquez" exhibition in Accademia Carrara.[12]
In 2022, it will organize the "Trail del Centenario" running event in the upper Brembana Valley to celebrate 100 years since its founding.[13][14]
